Yesterday I was headed to lunch with boyfriend on his lunch break. He was driving his sister's car because his brakes are kind of messed up atm. So we were at the corner of county E and Lexington, about to turn left onto Lexington. We were three cars behind and the first two turned successfully on a green arrow. We had just turned out into the intersection and then there was a huge bang and nothing for a split second. I now found myself in a smoky car with Andrew yelling at me "Are you okay??" What happened is that a huge black truck came out of nowhere coming from the opposite direction on E. He claims he had a yellow light, which seems totally implausible to me. Either way, he came into that intersection at about 40 MPH and hit us just about head on and drove another 20 or so feet before his broken axle stopped him. He was lucky, because that was the only damage he got. Andrew's sister's car is now totaled and there were fluids everywhere. Andrew called the police and two very nice women helped me out of the car and found my glasses. I was really nervous because I couldn't feel half my face (probably from the airbag), but I had to get control of myself. I called the parental units and before the ambulance arrived I started feeling my face again but I still got checked out just in case. The EMTs took me to the hospital and I got some x-rays, but it seems everything is okay. I got the worst damage of anyone involved, so in my book that is good, especially because I'm not too banged up. Apparently the police came up with some bs idea that both people were at fault because Andrew had a green light, not arrow, and the other driver had a yellow light (if you think about this, it's impossible in the situation). Nobody got a ticket, though.... Anyway I'm really glad we weren't in Andrew's car because his is older, has no passenger-side airbag and has faulty seatbelts..... It was still a scary situation, though. Anyway that is my fun story for the weekend.
